Description

Route: Moor Lane Car Park-Limestone Way-Lathkill Dale- Over Haddon-Meadow Place Grange-Back Lane-Moor Lane Car Park. This route passed through fields along the Limestone Way and down through deciduous woodland into Lathkill Dale, a very pleasant Limestone walk which was one of the club's favourites. This day there were 11 people in the group. Limestone is extremely slippery when wet so great care was taken along the way. The route follows the river Lathkill and is popular with tourists. There are lots of woodland birds to be seen here and some caves and ruined buildings, once part of lead ore workings. Coot can be seen on the river. The path crosses the river via a footbridge and passes through Meadow Place Grange before crossing fields back to Back Lane and the car park on Moor Lane. The fields are of grass and can be sludgy in bad weather.
