Description

Working with 2 mock clients. One with some seconding experience and one MOD lead and the other new to trad. Climbed the route in series, focusing on a system for climbing as a pair and swinging leads. For Guila (more experienced) she 'led' the first and third pitch and attached herself to anchors I had placed, we talked about best position to set up next climb, suitable choice of anchors (IDEAS/ABCs) and polished her belaying from above. Julia (less experience) 'led' the second pitch and we looked at attaching herself to two pieces with clove hitches. Primary focus was seconding skills so she had lots of opportunity for removing and racking gear, including doing that at a belay and when is the appropriate time to take it apart. Julia also belayed from above and picked this up very quickly! switched to parallel for the final pitch as the heavens opened and we were getting soaked!

Area : Highland Outcrops: Strathnairn and Strathspey

This area encompasses all the crags in Strathspey north of Kingussie and also those in Strathnairn. These crags are described in the chapters of the SMC Highland Outcrops South guidebook entitled 'Strathspey' and 'South of Inverness', with the exception of Creag Dubh (which is in the West and Central Highlands region in DLOG).
