DofE Gold Practice Expedition - Day 1 - Edge Hill University. As a Mountain Leader and DofE Expedition Assessor, conducted training in the field. Torrential rain over night resulted in extensive flooding in North Wales. Upon arrival on the morning the plans for the day 1 and day 2 had to be changed as the initial plan was to walk from Tryfan to Dolgam Camp Site in Capel Curig, camping on night 1 at Dolgam. Unfortunately, Dolgam was under several feet of water. So started from th base of Tryfan and walked into Cwm Idwal and circumnavigated Idwal, taking the high path up to the wall near Devils Kitchen, and back down to camp for the night at Little Tyfan. Heavy rain all day, but visibility was good, with the cloud layer at around 900m.

Glyderau
The Glyderau (a Welsh plural form, also known in English as the Glyders) are a mountain group in Snowdonia, North Wales. The name derives from the highest peaks in the range, Glyder Fawr and Glyder Fach. According to Sir Ifor Williams, the word "Glyder" derives from the Welsh word "Cludair", meaning a heap of stones.
