Description

Start from Choire Chais follow path across entrance to Coire an Lochain to ridge and spot height 1083. Over ridge to Lochan Buidhe then onto Carn Etchachan. Repeated this route as previously done in total white out conditions and wanted to see the views. Not disappointed! The view down frozen Loch Avon and across the snow fields to MacDui was stunning. Returned via Coire Domhain and Fiacaill Choire Chais down steep slope to the right of collapsing cornices to Coire an T Sneachda and to the car park. Brilliant day out!

Area : The Cairngorms

The Cairngorms are ‘a little piece of the arctic in Scotland’ according to the SMC Munros Guide and the area contains many of the tallest peaks in the East Highlands. Ben Macdui (1309m), Cairn Gorm (1244m) and Braeriach (1296) are probably three of the better known and the whole area is full of steep corries and high plateaux. Access to the mountains is typically from Aviemore or Braemar.
