Description

From parking on A82 at NN187 562 followed path to col at 748m NN187 544. Followed ridge NE to summit of Stob Coire Raineach and then retraced steps back to col. Followed ridge ridge SW to summit of Stob Dubh and retraced steps back to col and then down to parking. Firm snow on ridge from col to spot height 902m and up to Stob Dubh Crampons on and Axe in use for this section in both directions. Practiced ice axe arrest and confidence roping on slopes N of spot 902m.

Area : Glencoe North (Loch Leven To Rannoch Station)

This area covers the northern side of Glen Coe and the mountains north of Rannoch Moor. Notable features include the Pap of Glencoe, the Aonach Eagach ridge (home to a few kilometres of horizontal scrambling) and the remote peak of Stob na Cruiache which is generally accessed from the train station to the east. Includes all major peaks above 600m.
