Description

Scottish Rock and Rock
1 day bespoke - 2 clients
Aims - we met at Tiso at 8am and got kitted up, and spoke about objectives for the day.
The 2 clients just wanted a journey day in the mountains.
so we went up 1141 and down windy col, taking the least resistant line along the right hand rocky rib as you look down windy col, there were really good steps in the sections with snow, however conditions at this point were very lean.
we went into the moraines and looked at emergency shelters and then went onto the ice below goat track.
Wind on the tops was increasing throughout the day as a storm was coming through so this forced us to stay low for most of the day.

Area : The Cairngorms

The Cairngorms are ‘a little piece of the arctic in Scotland’ according to the SMC Munros Guide and the area contains many of the tallest peaks in the East Highlands. Ben Macdui (1309m), Cairn Gorm (1244m) and Braeriach (1296) are probably three of the better known and the whole area is full of steep corries and high plateaux. Access to the mountains is typically from Aviemore or Braemar.
