2 day winter skills course
Day1 - Winter skills in Sneachda, very lean conditions, we did some snow anchors, the clients were about to go to the alps and larger ranges and wanted to learn skills to safe guard in steeper ground. we then went up the rocky rib towards windy col and build buriewd axe to bring people up the steeper convexity and then worked about and right on windy col on steeper ground with anchors. due to such lean conditions made this an appropriate place and it was not very steep and friendly snow conditions of it being very slushy and wet snow again made it safe.
Day 2 - Walk out towards the top of the shelterstone to get views of loch avon basin. journey day putting in nav skills and crampon and ice axe skills. we also built a emergency shovel up higher up where the snow was still in the freezing level.

Area : The Cairngorms

The Cairngorms are ‘a little piece of the arctic in Scotland’ according to the SMC Munros Guide and the area contains many of the tallest peaks in the East Highlands. Ben Macdui (1309m), Cairn Gorm (1244m) and Braeriach (1296) are probably three of the better known and the whole area is full of steep corries and high plateaux. Access to the mountains is typically from Aviemore or Braemar.
