This challenging expedition was completed with my friend Max, who is also training for his Mountain Leader award. Together, we tackled a significant portion of the Lake District, covering 20 peaks, including some of the most iconic and challenging summits in the region. The weather was harsh, with torrential rain, poor visibility, and moderate winds, which required constant attention to navigation and safety. The continuous rain made the terrain difficult and the visibility extremely limited, which added complexity to our navigation. Despite the conditions, we worked together to navigate through the series of high and exposed peaks, ensuring that we remained on course and safe. The significant elevation gain and distance pushed our physical and mental endurance, but we supported each other throughout the journey.Peaks like Helvellyn and Blencathra were particularly challenging due to the weather, but the experience was invaluable for both of us as we continue to prepare for our Mountain Leader qualifications. The teamwork and shared decision-making, especially in such adverse conditions, reinforced the importance of collaboration and communication in mountain environments.Overall, this was a highly demanding and rewarding day that tested our skills, endurance, and ability to work effectively as a team under challenging conditions.

Area : Northern Fells

The Northern Fells occupy a circular area about 10 miles in diameter. The centre is slightly lower, an area of upland grazing and marshland known as Skiddaw Forest. This name may be misleading since the only trees form the windbreak of Skiddaw House. This isolated building, was once a shepherd's bothy. It currently serves as a youth hostel. Skiddaw Forest stands at the head of the three major rivers of the Northern Fells. The Caldew, Dash Beck and the Glenderaterra. These streams divide the circular area into three distinct sections.
