
Expedition Leader. Working for Outlook Expeditions as a Leader on a Practical Leadership Weekend (PLW) training ahead of a 21 day Expedition to Borneo in July 2025. Camped Friday and Saturday nights with the group at Newcourt Farm Campsite, Brecon. Two teachers and 8 students from Woldingham School (all girls - in residence). Rain both nights, but partly cloudy and windy during the day especially along the ridgeline crossing from Lord Hereford's Knob to the Trig Point (713m) and beyond to descending back down to the camp site which is at 195m.
Saturday was a walk to check the students endurance ahead of the trek on the Heritage Trail, Mount Kinabalu, Borneo. This walk was 18.3km, with 732m of elevation gain. Highest elevation was at the Trig Point (713m).

Black Mountains
The Black Mountains (Welsh: Y Mynyddoedd Duon) are a group of hills spread across parts of Powys and Monmouthshire in southeast Wales, and extending across the national border into Herefordshire, England. They are the easternmost of the four ranges of hills that comprise the Brecon Beacons National Park, and are frequently confused with the westernmost, which is known as the Black Mountain. To confuse matters further, there is a peak in the Black Mountains called Black Mountain.
