Description

myself, hubby and friend.
A fairly overcast day, with sunshine popping through here and there, windy to start, but with a forecast to get stronger as the day progressed. so for that reason we had a 9oclock start.
very saturated underfoot, boggy, and difficult to cross the burn.
we did...rightly or wrongly cross a bridge that warned us of damage and not to use it. it was fine.
due to the normal route following the eastern bank or the burn before crossing, and this not being an option, we went ``off piste`` somewhat, heading directly for a`chailleach.
deep snow drifts, more burns, peat hags, and boggy boggy ground made it a little tough to ascend, but didn`t take too long.
a big drop in temperature on the summit, and a definite increase in wind speed, lowered cloud base, made the decision easy not to go for the second munro of the day, and we retraced our route back the way to the car.
sadly not as much snow as we`d have liked for the end of December, but increasingly wintry conditions building as we decended.
