Description

Working on safe travel skills with a client, coaching on good footwork with and without crampons, self-belaying with ice axe, cutting steps, basic snowpack formation and selecting safe routes during a journey in winter. Snow conditions were pretty hard work - lots of new unconsolidated snow, waist deep in places, with areas of soft and hard windslab. Cloud on summit, with a fresh Easterly wind.

Area : Loch Lomond to Strathyre (Ben More)

Ben Lomond (974m) and Ben More (1174m) sit on opposite sides of this area which stretches from Loch Lomond to the western end of Loch Earn. There are two distinct sections, to the north and south of Glen Voil, with the remaining peaks sitting to the south of Loch Katrine. Access to the majority of the hills in this area is commonly from Crianlarich, Aberfoyle or Callander.
