Cairngorm National Park
MOUNTAIN SUMMITED
Mullach Clach a’Bhlair (1019m)
Carn Ban Mor (1052m)
DESCRIPTION OF ROUTE:
I arrived at the carpark found at the end of the glenfeshie road and continued up the glen by foot. The walk up was lovely and after an 1hr walk found my self heading up the track towards the summit of Mullach Clach a’Bhlair. Much of the ascent is on a vehicle track but there are great views down into the twisting cleft of Coire Garbhlach.. When I reached the summit the wind had increased and was strong enough to knock me off my feet the cloud was slowly lowering and turn around and headed over towards mehall dubhag as I was walking over I found my self in a complet white out with minimal features to work with. For the next two hours my head was in the compass and map and eventually arrived at the summit of Carn ban Mor. I decided to head back down into the glen instead of continuing onto sgoran Dubh Mor. The walk down was easy once I found the trodden footpath and arrived back at the car 6hrs after I headed off.

Area : The Cairngorms

The Cairngorms are ‘a little piece of the arctic in Scotland’ according to the SMC Munros Guide and the area contains many of the tallest peaks in the East Highlands. Ben Macdui (1309m), Cairn Gorm (1244m) and Braeriach (1296) are probably three of the better known and the whole area is full of steep corries and high plateaux. Access to the mountains is typically from Aviemore or Braemar.
