I started hillwalking in the Mourne Mountains with my school more than 30 years ago. While studying engineering at Queen's University, I spent most of my spare time in the mountains, walking and climbing, and became president of the mountaineering club. Working in Switzerland for two years gave me the opportunity to climb and ski extensively in the Alps. I've climbed a wide range of mountains all over the world including Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn, Mount McKinley, Mount Kenya and Huayna Potosi (Bolivia). I have summer and winter ML awards, Mountain Ski Leader, SPA and I'm working my way through the IML scheme. I'm currently an Explorer Scout Leader in Bath and enjoy leading hill walking, climbing, caving and skiing.
