Introduction to the skills and techniques of teaching navigation. This course would be open to anyone who teaches or would like to learn techniques which will also improve their own navigation.

Ian Loombe is an MIC holder and has been involved in training and assessment of navigation for over 20 years. David Taylor is a SML holder and has also been English Fell Running champion (twice). Both Ian and David have extensive experience of practicing, teaching and assessing navigation. The basis of the training would be breaking down the elements of navigation and then looking at techniques to improve how we coach/teach/assess them. Level 1 is open to all outdoor practitioners whereas Level 2 is only open to anyone who is involved in training/assessment of the hill/mountain schemes.

Equipment needed: Standard daysack, outdoor clothing, map and compass, pen and paper.
