About

FREE LAKE DISTRICT - INTRO TO MOUNTAIN RUNNING

This is a peer led fell-running event in the Lake District designed to bring MTA members together to network, share ideas and plan future events in the area.

The Lake District is bursting at the seams with amazing fell runs and epic trails that are ready to be explored.

This social is open to all levels of ability’s and fitness – Over the course of the day we cover around 8-10k (the exact route will be confirmed on the day) across a range of ground.

Content covered:

  • Stepping up your navigation – speed and timings
  • Managing groups in the mountains whilst running as well as looking at managing steep ground
  • Games and way to get clients engaged whilst running
  • Route planning and weather
  • The role of an event marshal
  • What to carry whilst running (seems obvious but it really isn't )

What to bring: Personal fell-running equipment. Please dress appropriately for the weather and terrain. Food and water.

Hosted by: Jack Oliver is working towards his Mountaineering & Climbing Instructor qualification and is an MTA Support Volunteer for the Lake District. He has run the Ramsay round and Paddy Buckley round and works on regular running events across the country. He is also training for a winter Iron Man.
