Thursday afternoon workshop
Workshop Description
This workshop will focus on the often unseen barriers that under-represented groups can experience when trying to access Mountain Training courses. Who are we failing to attract on our courses and why? What talent is being lost for our schemes and what can we do about it?
We will look at ways to attract and support women, different ethnic groups, the disabled and the LGBT communities onto our courses. We will look at the messages we are giving out before, during and after our course delivery, with a view to make these as inclusive as possible. The workshop will aim to come up with practical steps that we can take to encourage more diverse participants onto our courses, support them while they are there, and to challenge any exclusive behaviour.
