Workshop Description
The new leadership competencies are the biggest update to the walking schemes from the recent Mountain Training review. This workshop will look at practical strategies for training and assessing these competencies during walking scheme courses. We will demonstrate examples of leadership behaviour that can be described and observed, thus making it clear to the candidate what is required.
We will benchmark the standard required to pass the leadership component of the assessment and explore how useful feedback can be given to those who don’t meet this standard. We will discuss methods of collecting evidence, as well as how to summarise this holistically.
