2. Training and assessing access & environment.
Friday morning workshop
Workshop Description
Access and environmental knowledge form a major part of Mountain Training’s outdoor qualifications - and the guidance for this has been updated in the walking schemes review. The focus of this workshop will be on how to train and assess this huge and varied subject. We will look at the new guidance and determine what is essential minimum knowledge to pass at assessment.
The workshop will look at practical ways to deliver input when out on the hill or crag and will also examine assessment methods. A key aim of the session is to leave course staff with a clear benchmark of the assessment standard for the various schemes and to have confidence in their ability to train, signpost, and assess candidates to this level.
