5. Technical climbing clinic: Teaching on sport crags, security on crags, better belaying etc
Friday morning workshop
Workshop Description
This workshop will look at a range of practical issues related to the delivery of all Mountain Training climbing courses. It will look at a range of techniques and strategies for teaching the sport climbing element of the Rock Climbing Instructor and Rock Skills, as well as different methods for providing security on the crag. We will look at ‘better belaying ‘and its complex variables that are now in play with modern climbing.
All of this will lead us to consider how we effectively train and fairly assess these skills for our qualifications. What is the benchmark minimum standard to pass CWI and RCI? As such the workshop is an ideal forum for both indoor and outdoor climbing scheme providers, including skills courses.
