This event is an opportunity for those new to working with MTS to meet the ‘old hands’ and share ideas, thoughts and experiences related to working the Mountain Training schemes to:

 Session 1: Aim – To discuss what options we have to defer a candidate who has not met the standard.

  • Background: why are we covering this

 

  • What options do we have when deferring a candidate

 

  • What constitutes a defer (not discussing standard), are there exceptions to the rule?

 

  • The difference between a ‘quick fix’ and ‘coaching to pass’

Session 2: Aim - To develop a practical awareness of what constitutes course/defer/fail report writing good practice and why this is important.

  • Feedback during the assessment, building towards a defer
