Course Overview

Britian Mountains are wonderful places but can be daunting and intimidating when the weather changes or you wander off your chosen route. Being able to plan a route properly and navigate can make your day out so more enjoyable.

On a Mountain Skills Course, we will teach you the skills needed to make sure you can enjoy the mountains no matter where you want to wander or what the weather throws at you.

Traditionally the course is 2 days long which will help you gain the skills and confidence to safely enjoy big days out in the mountains.

We also offer a 4-day Mountain Skills course which adds 2 days to the above course, and allows you to consolidate what you have learned and add in an overnight wild camp. Here we teach you camp-craft and will do some night navigation. This simulates navigating in bad weather.

The courses are run by highly experienced and qualified instructors. We start with the very basics of navigation and gradually introduce new topics.

We won’t cover lots of distance, and may not get to the top of any mountains, instead, we’ll focus on developing your mountain skills.

No previous experience is required but you should have a reasonable level of fitness.

2-day and 4-day, courses both start on the same day.
