Ropework for MLs
This workshop is for people who are preparing for assessment, or want a refresher in rope work in the context of the Mountain Leader qualification.
This workshop concentrates on managing a group on steep group and emergency rope work required for Mountain Leader assessment a great opportunity to update and practise your skills either as a refresher or particularly if you are preparing for an assessment. Let’s face it when did you last get your rope out?
The workshop will cover route selection and safeguarding a group in ascent and descent, confidence roping, selecting and using anchors.
It will include:
- Choice of suitable rope
- Confidence roping
- Practice of rope work systems
- Anchor selection
- Using the rope in context
- Personal descent techniques
Please bring personal hill kit and if you have them:
Gloves (leather palms are ideal, but otherwise thick non fleece are fine) - certain gardening gloves work well.
30m confidence rope / Rope bag / Helmet - These items will be available to borrow
This workshop will be run by Cath Wilson who is a highly experienced and dedicated educationalist. Her decades of instructing in the mountains is underpinned by a formal teaching background. Cath focuses on the individual and she is committed and driven to helping people to reach their full potential.
Cath is an experienced Mountain Training course director for the Mountain Leader qualification.
