Description

Stunning winter conditions and tonnes of snow, 6 friends and my 9 year old daughter. we went up from Glenmore lodge via the green lochan, had a bite to eat at ryvoan bothy, and made our way up to the top. The snow was up to my thighs, soft and hard work over the heather. We spent quite a bit of time sitting on the summit looking at the incredible views over the cairngorms, whilst a tiny vole ran around our feet enjoying bits of mini cheddars.
We dropped back down through the forest making a circular route back to glenmore. 6 hours.

Area : The Cairngorms

The Cairngorms are ‘a little piece of the arctic in Scotland’ according to the SMC Munros Guide and the area contains many of the tallest peaks in the East Highlands. Ben Macdui (1309m), Cairn Gorm (1244m) and Braeriach (1296) are probably three of the better known and the whole area is full of steep corries and high plateaux. Access to the mountains is typically from Aviemore or Braemar.
