Lakes 6th Jan 2018
Blencathra via Sharp Edge, onto Blencathra summit then ridge to Blease Fell

Weather
Clear but cold start, bitter northerly wind with wind chill -15C, difficulty in standing up over Scales Fell

Ground conditions
Overnight frost continued below freezing through day. Fresh overnight snow ontop of well established snow

Conditions changeable but forecast for better weather in the Northern Lakes

Time
7hrs, with stop for bite to eat and tea on Blencathra

Group – 2 persons myself lead.
10am start, crampons fitted at start of Zig Zags towards summit of Blencathra, large cornices building on edges. No problems encountered except for strong wind causing buffeting.

Area : Northern Fells

Generally this is the area to the north of the A66 which runs from Penrith to Cockermouth and the town of Keswick.
