Description

Left car in carpark off A57 near Birchen Clough Bridge (SK109914) and walked S through woods to pick up the path up Ashop Clough (Snake Path). Followed river valley up to Ashop Head where we climbed up to the Kinder Plateau. We walked along the northern edge of the plateau until reaching seal flats/Seal stones and headed down via Gate Side Clough and returned to car following woodlands valley and the snake plantations.

Area : Dark Peak

Is situated between Sheffield and Manchester. The underlying rock is Millstone grit which is often exposed at the edge of the higher peat bogs for which the area is famous.
