Description

Date is approximate. This was a short but snowy walk which I began from Grasmere. I followed the minor road to the West of the village and headed South through fog (which had sunlight beaming through it) to pick up a track at the start of the lake which headed to Kelbarrow. The snow was quite thick here and sloppy too so it made the going quite difficult. I came out of the fog and views were fantastic as a recent snow storm had passed. The cloud was evaporating quickly. I followed the path beside a wall to NY327064 where I turned up the hill to Silver How. I walked to the Western edge of the moor here then headed back down as another snowstorm came down the valley, making visibility and navigation difficult. I returned to the car via the same route.

Area : Western Fells

From Crummock Water and Buttermere in the north as far south as the river Esk.
