I began this walk from Honister YHA car park and headed across the road and straight up the steep grassy bank North towards the summit of Dale Head. The path was icy and there was a sprinkling of snow on the ground. Crampons were not required however as the ice was easily circumnavigated. I had my dog with me so it was a simple straight up, straight down route along the well-trodden path to the summit. I do have a plan to circumnavigate below this summit in the future to head onto High Spy and Maiden Moor, so I kept a look out for where this path breaks off to the right on the way up. A very pleasant day, and despite a strong wind chill the wind did die away upon reaching the summit and it was very pleasant and warm as we drank in the view! Hard to tear away from this spot! As I mentioned it was a simple case of returning to the car the same way I came up.
