Starting from the end of the road near Talywaen just outside of Deiniolen we walked up the track to Marchlyn Mawr Reservoir.
From there, we went up to Y Fronllwyd and then across the saddle to Carnedd y Filiast, practising timings and pacings along the way.
We then carried on southeast/south to Mynydd Perfedd and we were going to go on to Elidir Fawr, but the wind had really started to pick up, so we started to look for a camping spot out of the wind.
We decided to head over to Cwm Cywion, so we bypassed Foel-Goch and walked through Bwlch y Cywion and onto the end of
Y Llymllwyd to have a look around.
We dropped down towards Llyn Cywion and found a flat patch of ground, just big enough for two tents, next to the stream at around 680m.
The wind had been coming from the west, and we managed to find a very sheltered spot. Unfortunately, as the night went on, the wind started to come more from the south, which made for a very restless night as the gusts were about 50mph.

Glyderau
The Glyderau (a Welsh plural form, also known in English as the Glyders) are a mountain group in Snowdonia, North Wales. The name derives from the highest peaks in the range, Glyder Fawr and Glyder Fach. According to Sir Ifor Williams, the word "Glyder" derives from the Welsh word "Cludair", meaning a heap of stones.
