
Bosley Cloud (343m): Macclesfield Rail Station parking lot start. Macclesfield Canal Tow Path/Cheshire Ring Canal Walk, South for 7 miles to Bosley Locks, changing to Dane Valley Way and ascending "The Cloud" on the Gritstone Trail to the Bosley Cloud Triangulation Pillar. Descended back down to the Dane Valley Way Trail and took the public path to explore the village of Bosley. Returned to the Aqueduct and the Bosley Locks, and returned to Macclesfield, with a second side trip to the Dane Moss Nature Reserve. Mostly cloudy cool day with some times strong wind, and occasional sprinkles of rain. Total Time: 7 hours 44 minutes; Total Distance: 20.17 miles/32.6 km; Elevation Gain: 1,775 ft. Focus of the day was slope angle, with the severe change of elevation at Bosley Cloud.

Lies to the south of the Dark Peak where the underlying rock is limestone - hence the name. Tends to be a little lower in altitude and also may be known as the Derbyshire or Staffordshire Dales.
