Another walk I was trying for my book for people with larger dogs! Using the OS 1:25000 map. I had my oldest Alsatian with me. We began from Hawkshead and walked along the road to Colthouse Plantation then headed up through the trees to the East passing Spring Wood to Rough Hows. At Guide Posts we headed North and made our way to Old Intake and then onto Latterbarrow. From here we descended to the West and onto Loanthwaite Lane, before returning through fields passing Scar House Lane and back into Hawkshead.
Area :
Southern Fells (Scafell Pike)
The Southern Fells Include Scafell Pike, the highest peak in England, occupy a broad area to the south of Great Langdale, Borrowdale and Wasdale. High and rocky towards the centre of the Lake District, the Southern Fells progressively take on a moorland character toward the south west. In the south east are the well known Furness Fells, their heavily quarried flanks rising above Coniston Water.
