Description

A navigation practise day. I began from Lanthwaite car park and followed the minor road to Lowpark and along the bridleway below Raven Crag. I walked to the end of the wooded area and made my way over the river before climbing onto Little Dodd and across the moor to the summit of Hen Comb. I headed from here over to Floutern Tarn, practising finding contour lines along the way. From Floutern Tarn I made my way to Mosedale and picked up the path below Mellbreak overlooking Mosedale Beck, to return to the car park via Raven Crag and Lowpark. The second photo in the set shows the scree path up Mellbreak which I climbed on 31.3.21 (see previous record)

Area : North Western Fells

Essentially this area is encompassed by Lakes of Bassenthwaite, Derwent Water, Buttermere and Crummock Water with the southern boundary being the Honister Pass
