Snowdon/Yr Wyddfa (1085m) via Llanberis Path. This was a last minute change of plans to summit Snowdon. This was a two day trip with a tent camp overnight at Dolgam in Capel Curig. The plan was to summit Elidir Fawr from Nant Peris at the east end of Llyn Peris. I knew from the route planning weather check that the weather was going to be fair. No rain and good visibility. I had arrived mid day, having driven from Manchester, with plenty of time for the planned 6 hour summit of Elidir Fawr, but at the starting point I looked up to the north at Elidir Fawr, and then south to Snowden and saw the clear summit, and changed plans on the spot to walk from the starting point at Nant Peris, west to a point where I could short cut up onto the Llanberis Path and on up to Snowden. This was a bit ambitious due to my late start and the fact that this was going to be a 20km+ walk, with close to a 1,000m gain in elevation in 10K. But the opportunity for photos on a clear summit was hard to resist. Starting from Nant Peris was not ideal, as it made the round trip 20km, with incumbent elevation gain and loss, but with the good weather it was worth the extra effort, but required speed to make.
Total Time: 6 hours 4 minutes; Total Distance: 19.22 km; Total Ascent: 1,540m
Elidir Fawr was saved for the next day, which proved a good choice. After camping over night there was fairly steady rain in the morning ascending Elidir Fawr. Unfortunately, the rain on Elidir Fawr became to much and my phone/camera died, completely. I lost all photos from Snowden and was unable to take any on Elidir Fawr. Fortunately, I had sent the three photos below to my wife on Whatsapp before the phone died. These are the only photos from these two days in North Wales.
