Description

Day 2 of our week and the best forecast for the week so we decided on a ridge. The ridge was covered in melting ice and a small amount of snow except on the few larger patches of snow breaking up the ridge. In the end we opted to climb without crampons and trust to kicked in steps on the snow patches. A busy day so we lost some time while other groups weaved in and out of each other. Topped out on the right hand gully. Descended via Coire na Tulaich. Great day out with great views as we walked at out at dusk.

Area : Glen Coe, Ardgour and Loch Etive to Appin (winter)

Glen Coe gives a wealth of winter climbing opportunities of all grades and styles, something indeed for everyone. The cliffs are also, in the main, easily accessible which means they can become very popular. This area also includes the winter climbs on the mountains south of Glen Coe in Glen Etive, and on hills more southerly still but north of the A85 Oban road (notably Ben Cruachan). Also included are the hills of Appin and Ballachuilish, the dry tooling of Ballachuilish bridge, and the winter climbs in Ardgour (notably Garbh Bheinn).
