With M to Maol Chean Dearg, hoping it was slightly more leisurely than yesterday on Beinn Eighe so we didn't start walking until 09.30. Lovely bright morning but cold & a very cold wind in the col. The upper parts are quite stony & slow going but we were able to link snow patches on descent to make a quick way off. Great views all the way. On top of the shoulder above the col, we were surprised to meet a couple & dog who started with us & had indicated they might not go to the top. Now 1.5hrs behind us, we wondered how it would be for them. Walk Highlands 5 to 7hr seems optimistic as we were 6.5hr & are usually, even in winter, towards the front of their range. (16)
Area :
Cuillin and Torridon (Liathach)
This area is on the west coast of Scotland and its most well-known mountains are probably Beinn Eighe (1010m) and Liathach (1055m). The area is bordered by Loch Maree and the A832 to the north and Glen Carron and the A890 to the south. It should not to be confused with The Cuillin which is on Skye and listed in the Western Isles region. The mountains list contains all peaks above 800m.
