Participated in the Black Combe Fell Race on 5th March 2022. The race covered 12.99 km with a challenging 1066 m of ascent. The weather was ideal for running, with clear, sunny skies and good visibility, although the moderate wind added an extra challenge, especially on the exposed sections. The race went well, and I was thrilled to finish 6th overall and secure 1st place in the V40 category. The course was tough, particularly the second climb after the stream crossing, which tested both strength and endurance. However, the effort was worth it, and I was really happy with my performance. The conditions were great, and the race was a fantastic experience, combining tough climbs with fast descents and beautiful views over the surrounding landscape. This result was a confidence booster and a highlight of the racing season.
Area :
Southern Fells (Scafell Pike)
The Southern Fells Include Scafell Pike, the highest peak in England, occupy a broad area to the south of Great Langdale, Borrowdale and Wasdale. High and rocky towards the centre of the Lake District, the Southern Fells progressively take on a moorland character toward the south west. In the south east are the well known Furness Fells, their heavily quarried flanks rising above Coniston Water.
