On 8th April 2022, I embarked on a solo Quality Mountain Day to tackle the Snowdon Horseshoe, covering 29.07 km with 1351.3 m of ascent. This was my first major hike after completing the Mountain Leader training course, and I was eager to put my skills to the test. The weather conditions were perfect for the hike—clear, sunny skies with good visibility and a gentle breeze. These favorable conditions made for an enjoyable day, allowing me to focus on refining my navigation and mountain skills. The route included a series of peaks, starting with the challenging scramble up Crib Goch (923 m), followed by Crib y Ddysgl (1065 m) and culminating at Snowdon - Yr Wyddfa (1085 m). After summiting Snowdon, I continued along the ridge to Y Lliwedd (898 m) and its neighboring tops, before descending to complete the horseshoe.I was particularly pleased with how my new hiking boots performed, providing excellent support and comfort throughout the day. The combination of technical scrambling, ridge walking, and spectacular views made this a memorable and rewarding QMD. It was also a great confidence booster, reaffirming the skills and knowledge gained during my Mountain Leader training.

Moelwynion
The Moelwynion (a Welsh plural, sometimes anglicised to Moelwyns) are a group of mountains in central Snowdonia. They extend from the north-east of Porthmadog to Moel Siabod, the highest of the group. The name derives from the names of the two largest mountains in the group, Moelwyn Mawr (great white hill) and Moelwyn Bach (little white hill).
