Mountains:⛰️ Bera Mawr⛰️ Carnedd Dafydd⛰️ Carnedd Gwenllian / Garnedd Uchaf⛰️ Carnedd Llewelyn⛰️ Garnedd Ugain⛰️ Glyder Fawr⛰️ Llechog⛰️ Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon)
I led a challenging recce of the Welsh 1000s course with Nikki. The day involved covering 41.11 km with a significant ascent of 2944 m over various peaks, including Carnedd Dafydd, Carnedd Llewelyn, and Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). The weather was wintery, with showers and mixed to poor visibility throughout the day. Moderate wind added to the challenge, particularly on the exposed sections of the route. The poor visibility and challenging conditions required careful navigation and constant attention to safety.During the more technical sections, particularly scrambling, I had to spot Nikki to ensure her safety. The conditions made the scramble more demanding, but we managed to navigate through it effectively. The experience was a good test of leadership, requiring a balance between guiding the route, ensuring safety, and managing the adverse weather conditions.Despite the tough weather, the recce was successful in familiarizing ourselves with the course and identifying key points to focus on during the actual event. This QMD provided valuable experience in leading under challenging conditions, highlighting the importance of preparation, adaptability, and teamwork in mountain environments. https://www.strava.com/activities/6956553317

Area : Carneddau

The Carneddau (lit. "the cairns"; Carneddau is a Welsh plural form, and is sometimes anglicised to Carnedds) are a group of mountains in Snowdonia, Wales. They include the largest contiguous areas of high ground (over 2,500 or 3,000 feet (910 m) high) in Wales and England, as well as six or seven of the highest peaks in the country—the Fourteen Peaks. The range also encloses a number of lakes such as Llyn Cowlyd and Llyn Eigiau, and the Aber Falls waterfalls. It is delimited by the Irish Sea to the north, the Conwy valley to the east, and by the A5 road from Betws-y-Coed to Bethesda to the south and west. The area covers nearly 200 square kilometres, about 10% of the area of Snowdonia.
