This entire section was completed during the night. It began with a very cold but clear and starry sky, which made for a surreal and beautiful atmosphere. However, as I descended into Gargrave, clouds rolled in, and the temperature dropped further. Navigating in the dark and cold added an extra layer of difficulty, Malam Cove was a particularly difficult section both to navigate and move on as it's quite technical ground. I got through it though and by the time I reached Malham Tarn, I was exhausted but pleased with my progress through this part of the night.
