Description

Overnight snow and rain with stronger winds and lower temps gave us food for thought. Avalanche threat has gone up to cat 3 and we didn't want to risk driving on the roads, so the decision was made to walk out of Morgins up ontothe Pointe de Culet and potentially up onto Pointe de Bellevue.

The steeper slopes at around 1400m were loaded and we saw at least 1 crown wall and partial avalanche , stopped by snow fencing.
Lot's of fresh powder and a big increase in depth when ascending from 1300m to 1500m. Used the morning to concentrate on the journey. After some good nav, I made a coiple of errors. I had asked Ian and Jerry to help me work out where my weakness was. We found when under pressure I snap at an answer. For the rest of the day, when asked 'where are you?' I left the map in the pocket, took a good look around, and even had a wander. This seems to have made a difference because everything became more relaxed and I got every point right ater that.
We dug a pit to understand the snow pack during the journey down, and as the weather worsoned we decided to push on back to the accomodation and sort our kit for tomorrow.
Another great day
