Cleveland MRT have given the MTA the chance for 6 members to join them on an upcoming training day. MTA members will be allocated as the 5th member of a search party or have the opportunity to be part of the Control team during a Search and Rescue exercise.
The MTA members will shadow the party and will be able to assist in the operation of the search parties during the exercise. Including navigating, active searching for the casualty and evacuation. This will give them a vicarious but immediate and active experience of the work of the team and their standard operating procedures.
Location
The day will start at 0900 at the The Lion Inn, Blakey Ridge (SE679996; https://goo.gl/maps/Cs5A43n1e9w)
What to bring
You should arrive equipped for a full day on the hill, intending to be self-sufficient; the exercise could be aborted in the event of a call-out. There may be periods of hard activity, carrying or searching over rough terrain or periods of little activity such as prepping the incident for evacuation, so your choice of clothing should accommodate such extremes.
Cost
Though this is a free event any and all donations to Cleveland MRT would be greatly appreciated.
