About

WORKSHOP CONTENT & LEARNING OUTCOMES:

Are you bored, or just not turned on by flowers? Don't understand rocks, or they all look the same to you? But you want a topic of environmental interest for your ML Assessment or to keep clients entertained?

Or do you just keep asking yourself how that mound got there, or why there is a depression in the landscape, or why one mound is long and thin and another is round? How did all those rocks end up on the top of the mountain? etc? If so, this is the course for you.

The landscape is a mystery waiting to be solved. During this day you will discover many landforms you have walked over many times without even noticing, as well as answering questions such as 'Why is there a strange step in the hillside here?, Why do those stones look like they have been arranged?'

We will be looking at the different landforms from the large glacial features, right down to the small scale periglacial features which have been changing our landscape since the glaciers melted.

Learning Outcomes: by the end of the day you should be able to identify new landforms and explain how they got there. You will know the difference between relic and active landforms and glacial, periglacial and fluvial landforms.

Location: Mountain walk over Elidir Fawr and Carnedd Ffiliast.

EQUIPMENT/KIT REQUIRED:

A rucksack packed for a mountain day in the hills. Please bring plenty of warm clothing as we will be stopping to discuss the landforms we see.

A pencil and notebook may be useful as well as a camera.
