This practical workshop will focus on developing the skills to become competent and confident to undertake personal mountaineering journeys in the winter mountains. This will look at the planning required to undertake mountaineering journeys and then the movement, ropework and decision-making skills required to safely carry them out. The workshop will not spend time undertaking a big mountaineering journey, but focus on the ropework skills, belaying skills and anchor selection that will be required for mountaineering. It is anticipated this workshop will support WML trainees in skills to support them safely gaining experience on graded terrain, alongside those who are keen to develop skills for personal winter mountaineering adventures.
Prerequisites:
Participants must be competent with ice axe and crampons, and either have their WML Training or basic ropework skills
