WORKSHOP CONTENT & LEARNING OUTCOMES

This is a 1-day practical workshop in the Black Mountains, where we will see and learn about the restoration work performed by the Black Mountains Land Use partnership. Subjects covered will include:

  • What is the Black Mountains Land Use Partnership?
  • History of the Black Mountains
  • Peatland restoration and the importance of it
  • Understand the importance of bracken control and heather restoration
  • Understand the current pressures to the Black Mountains
  • What we can do as outdoor professionals to help

We will also use this opportunity to share knowledge on geological features, flora and fauna throughout our journey. 

Learning Outcomes:

  • Knowledge and understanding on the Black Mountains Land Use Partnership
  • Better understanding of the Black Mountains Environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of Peatland restoration techniques
  • Understand the importance of bracken control and heather restoration
  • Greater understanding of environmental pressures to the Black Mountains and other similar Upland areas
  • Understand how Outdoor Professionals can help reduce environmental impact to the Black Mountains and other similar Upland areas.
