WORKSHOP CONTENT & LEARNING OUTCOMES
This 1 day workshop is designed to provide an opportunity for aspirant Mountain and/or Hill & Moorland Leaders to refresh and recap skills and knowledge as they prepare for assessment. The workshop is also open to qualified ML/HML etc who may wish to practice skills, and avoid skills fade.
This workshop will be focused on planning and using suitable stratergies to navigate using landscape features, as relevant to the level required of the Mountain Leader award.
We will focus particular attention to contour interpretation, and understanding contour features on the map when relating the map to the ground.
Attendee learning will be provided by using demonstration, explanation, discussion and practical application of appropriate techniques.
On completion of this workshop attendees should have - an understanding of contour features & contour interpretation, an insight as to where they are in regards to preperation for an assessment. Attendees will have an opportunity to discuss any queries relating to navigation.
EQUIPMENT/KIT REQUIRED
Clothing and kit as required/expected to be carried by a Mountain/Hill & Moorland Leader if leading a group, on a hill day, suitable for the conditions expected.

None provided. Please bring all food, snacks, fluids/warm drinks required for this day long 'on the hill' workshop.
WORKSHOP PROVIDER CREDENTIAL
Mark Valentine is a Summer, Winter & International Mountain Leader. He has also gained the Mountain Training RCI, CWDI & FCA qualifications + BASI 1 (Alpine) ski instructor.
He is an experienced Mountain Leader Award Course Director, providing and delivering Mountain Leader training and assessment programs on behalf of Snowdonia Mountain Skills (MTC), Mckinlay Mountaineering (MTE) & Carnegie Great Outdoors (MTE).
As Your Mountain Adventure he also provides a number of MTA approved skills workshops, in and around Yorkshire.
