All things Lowland Leader event

We are hosting an "All Things Lowland Leader" weekend around the stunning Goring Gap on the borders of Oxfordshire and Berkshire. The Gap is the meeting point of the Chilterns and the North Wessex Downs AONBs, and has The Ridgeway and Thames Path National Trails running through it. 

The Saturday will comprise of a series of talks and workshops on the skills and experience required to be an excellent Lowland Leader, understanding the terrain and scope of the qualification. 

We are very pleased to welcome, Sarah Wright, The Ridgeway National Trails Officer, who will be giving a talk about the Ridgeway and its history.   

We will also spend time working in small groups, peeling back the layers of what makes a good Lowland Walk in preparation for our Sunday walks which are designed to enhance your knowledge about flaura and fauna, local history and the geology of the area.

Sunday will be a choice of "learning walks" putting the knowledge gained on Saturday into practice with experienced and qualified Lowland Leaders.

Each walk will give you an opportunity to see a leader in action and enhance your knowledge on a choice of great subjects.

The event will also be an excellent opportunity to meet other members, ask lots of questions and learn from each other.

Although the focus of the weekend is the lowland environment, the event will be of interest to all those looking to complete a walking leader qualifications 

Booking for the event includes both days and we encourage you to take part in the whole weekend to get the most out of it. Please select both options on booking so that we know to expect you on both days. 

One day options are available if you can't make both days, please book yourself onto the day you are able to attend, so that we know who to expect on each day.

However, the cost for the event cannot be chnged for someone who can only access one day.   

The event is taking place at the Morrell Room, Church Lane, Streatley, which has good public transport links from London. 

If you are a member attending the event and you would like to bring others along on Sunday who are interested in finding out more about the Lowland Leader qualification, please get in touch to let us know. We invite and encourage members of local community groups who may be interested in pursuing a walking leader qualification, to come along as walkers on the Sunday.
